Watch Dragon Quest XI Being Played on Vita (Remote Play)

You’ll be able to play Dragon Quest XI on PlayStation Vita. Well, kind of. Square Enix’s upcoming role-playing game will support one of the handheld’s coolest features, Remote Play, which will allow players to play the game on the Vita while their PlayStation 4 runs it. A four-minute video showing off the game on Vita was posted on the Japanese PlayStation Blog, and it looks at home being played on a portable system.

Check out footage of Dragon Quest XI being played on PlayStation Vita below:

The above gameplay video certainly makes me wish the game was on PlayStation Vita natively. It looks perfect on the system’s beautiful screen, but I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.

It’s worth noting that it’s not only the Vita that can play Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time through the magic of Remote Play. The app also works on computers, the PlayStation TV and select smartpones/tablets. It’s really one of the PS4’s best features, and allows for a much more versatile gaming experience.

Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time launches on July 29 in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development.

No Western release date has been announced yet. In the mean time, Western gamers can play Dragon Quest Heroes II and Dragon Quest Builders on their PS4.
