PlayStation State of Play Scheduled for October 27, Focused on Third-Party Announcements and Updates

A new PlayStation State of Play broadcast will air on October 27th at 2pm PT/5pm ET. Set to be around 20 minutes long, the show will focus on third-parties—both new announcements and updates on things we know about. It will be broadcast live on both the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as available as video-on-demand after the State of Play has aired.

Sony clarified that the upcoming State of Play would be “focusing on announcements and updates for upcoming third-party releases headed to PS5 and PS4,” which basically says not to expect any first-party software or hardware reveals and announcements. Additionally, they said that the 20 minute show will “share new looks at previously announced games, plus a few reveals from our partners around the world.”

Sony was also kind enough to warn potential streamers who may want to co-stream the broadcast that it may contain copyrighted music that could present some issues via streams and VODs.

There’s currently a lot of speculation about what might be going into this State of Play. While first-party is off the table, there are a lot of potential third-party games we could get fresh looks at, as well as some surprises.

The replies to the announcement tweet are filled with an enormous wishlist of games people want to see, from a reveal of Final Fantasy VII Remake’s net part, to updates on indie titles like Little Devil Inside and Season. A few jokers have even riffed on the number of times Sony has shown off Deathloop, sarcastically saying we’ll probably see yet another trailer for the already released game. (Don’t worry. We won’t. Probably.)

The next PlayStation State of Play broadcast will air on October 27th at 2pm PT/5pm ET, via the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels. What are you hoping to see at the upcoming PlayStation State of Play?
