We asked for a new firmware update to fix some of the Vita’s problems, and now, only hours later, Sony has responded with a new update, v1.61 that fixes… nothing noticeable.
The 95MB update, which is now live worldwide, claims to add Maps and Video recording, but that was already added in FW v1.60. Other updates re-listed as new features that were in 1.60 include the Mac OS version of the Content Manager Assistant and and update to near. The only 1.61-exclusive change listed is the improvement of “certain aspects of the system software”.
The update can be done over the Vita’s Wi-Fi system, or through the PS3 or a PC/Mac.
Here’s hoping the next update includes what we want.
