Rumor: TimeSplitters 4 Real, “Seen Running” in Playable Form

It’s been far too long since we’ve seen a new installment in the popular first-person shooter franchise TimeSplitters. Fortunately, that all may change in the near future, as an alleged source has claimed to have seen the fourth installment running in action.

The report comes from sources close to Official Xbox Magazine (via CVG) who “have claimed that they’ve seen TimeSplitters 4 running.” It is important to note that just because a game has been seen in action, it doesn’t mean that it will actually make it out to retailers anytime soon. Just look at Star Wars: Battlefront 3, a title that has been rumored and delayed off and on for years.

That’s no guarantee that it’ll be released – at least one version of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was cancelled without ever being announced – but it’s a promising sign.

Fans of the older games have a bit more to be excited for as well, because the source goes on to say that “if we do get a proper sequel, we’re likely to see the old games appear, too.” HD collection anyone?
