When EA was asked earlier this year about a potential remaster of Mass Effect, they said it was about “weighing where we spend our resources” and whether or not it would be better for BioWare to work on a new IP.
In a new interview with IGN, EA COO Peter Moore essentially shot down the idea of remastering any of their games by saying, “[Publishers re-releasing old games on new platforms] feels like pushing stuff out because you’ve run out of ideas.”
Because EA has such a large slate of intellectual property, Moore doesn’t “know where we find the time to do remakes. We’re a company that just likes to push forward.”
He does see the positives in remakes though, as they help drive revenue “for a lot of companies” because it’s from an existing IP. For EA though, “We don’t do that here. I don’t think that’s ever been in our culture.”
Do you think EA should remaster some of their older games for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?
