Take-Two Eyeing Smaller Projects With Indie Devs

Grand Theft Auto publisher, Take-Two Interactive, is associated with popular AAA titles but the company is now eyeing opportunities to team up with indie developers to work on smaller projects as well. Speaking to MCV, CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that Take-Two already has strong relationships with indie publishers and will reveal its plans for that segment in due course.

We have strong relationships within the indie publishing community and believe there is an opportunity to deliver engaging, innovative gameplay experiences on a smaller scale than our traditional triple-A titles.

Over time, we’ll have more to share regarding our potential activities in this area.

Zelnick went on to say that Take-Two is also looking to expand organically via strategic acquisitions. The company is specifically looking for creative teams behind high quality IPs with access to new technology.

Our first priority is to invest in growing our business organically; however, we are also actively looking at strategic acquisition opportunities with a disciplined approach. Acquisitions to expand our scale would definitely be attractive to us, but we would also consider acquisitions in areas to which we don’t currently have a lot of exposure.

An ideal acquisition for us provides three things: high quality IP, a creative team that is tied to that IP, and new tech. It’s rare to find all three in one place.

As for its current projects, Take-Two has said that it’ll be present at E3 2016 in a “big way” to showcase what it’s working on. Stay tuned.
