Originally scheduled to release this spring, the free Not a Hero DLC for Resident Evil 7 has been delayed to an unspecified date, Capcom announced today in the above video (which contains spoilers).
As Game Director Koshi Nakanishi and Producer Masachika Kawata explained, they were working very hard to complete Not a Hero for a spring launch, and they even got close to completion. “However, in light of the incredible reception to the release of Resident Evil 7, we concluded that this DLC was not good enough to meet those high expectations,” Nakanishi added.
“Our aim is for this content to match the high quality of the main game, so we need more development time in order to achieve that goal,” Kawata said. Nakanishi then added, “Rest assured we’ll use this time to create something our fans will love, so we hope you understand.”
After Kawata reiterated that Not a Hero will still release for free, Executive Producer Jun Takeuchi said, “We are also working on a further piece of DLC at the moment and we wish to deliver both of these to you only once we are confident that they are polished and up to the standard you expect from Resident Evil 7.”
The further piece of DLC he mentioned is likely the “Additional Story Episode” included in the Season Pass, which is expected by December 31, 2017.
