FFXIV Stormblood Director Apologizes for Troubled Launch

The latest expansion for MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, Stormblood, has just launched and, as expected, the game saw a large influx of both new and returning players. As a result, logging into the game has not been easy as servers (called Worlds) have been at full capacity since the expansion launched, with the login queue going up to as high as 5,000 players.

In response, FFXIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida has gone on the game’s website to issue an apology for the login problems players are experiencing. Yoshida explains that the player limit for Worlds is placed to prevent them from crashing. Yoshida also reveals that the Worlds experiencing the highest traffic include:

Japan Data Center

Tonberry

Bahamut

North America Data Center

Balmung

Gilgamesh

Leviathan

Europe Data Center

Ragnarok

Odin

Cerberus

Moogle

Shiva

Yoshida suggests that players who want to login should stay in their spot in the queue as they will be able to login quicker compared to those who decide to cancel and restart the queue. He also reveals that the studio is working on ways to address the player capacity.

We are continuing to assess and work on ways we can increase the number of players that are able to log in without the World crashing. However, as this requires extremely precise adjustments, we currently need a bit more time.

I am terribly sorry, but since we also have New World and World Population Balancing Incentives at the moment, we would also appreciate if you could please consider using the World Transfer service.

As previously mentioned, Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is the latest expansion of the highly popular MMORPG. The new expansion, which launched today, June 20, 2017, introduces several new additions including new classes, new dungeons, and more.
