Persona 5 Sales Tops 1.8 Million Worldwide

Persona 5 sales

It turns out that Atlus’ signature franchise is a pretty big hit. SEGA’s Toshihiro Nagoshi has confirmed in the latest Sega Nama Broadcast that worldwide shipments for Persona 5 have surpassed over one million copies sold. The full figures come in at over 1.8 million copies, which is an impressive amount since the game released nearly one year ago in Japan. It finally came stateside in April of 2017.

Persona 5 has been widely praised by both critics and consumers across the world. It currently sits as the fourth highest rated game on Metacritic. Our very own Tyler Treese had this to say in his review of the turn-based role-playing game:

Persona 5 is proof that few titles can compare to a truly great role-playing game. Over its 60 hour playtime I got to forge meaningful friendships with an eccentric cast of characters, discover the secrets of Tokyo, and even managed to find some nice restaurants to dine at. The time investment might seem like a lot, but rarely is time wasted when spent with friends. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, as it largely builds upon Persona 4‘s stellar base, but it adds a level of polish that is simply lacking from its contemporaries.

Persona 5 released in Japan on September 15th of last year, and then April 4th of this year for both North America and Europe. Those that haven’t picked up the game can currently get it for a discounted price thanks to the latest PlayStation Store sale. Definitely check it out if you haven’t.
