Swery’s Murder Mystery, The Good Life, Gets a Trailer as Crowdfunding Campaign Goes Live

Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro’s White Owls studio has published a trailer for its recently announced murder mystery, The Good Life. The video above was released at PAX West 2017 as the game’s Fig crowdfunding campaign went live.

White Owls is seeking $1.5 million for the project, which is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and PC.

Here’s what The Good Life is all about:

Play as Naomi, a photographer from New York who finds herself stuck in Rainy Woods, a backwoods town in rural England… For it’s the only way for her to pay off the massive debt she’s accumulated.

Naomi photographs different things and uncovers the town’s secrets. Then, she discovers something in a river… the brutally murdered body of a young girl.

Pierced in the heart by an ancient, medieval sword, grasping nothing but a flower in her hands… When Naomi found her, the girl looked as tragic as the Ophelia from John Everett Millais’ painting.

Her name is Elizabeth, the lone daughter of the village pastor. Bound to a wheelchair, she gave Naomi a message the first time they met: “We need to accept everything that comes to us. That’s the key to achieving happiness.”

When she heard that, Naomi thought: “You expect me to just sit here and accept everything, without taking any action on my own? Yeah right!”

Murder in the happiest town in the world… What sort of fate will it lead Naomi to?
