Capcom Stream Shows Several Minutes of Onimusha: Warlords Gameplay

Recently, we got a small peek at the newly-remastered Onimusha: Warlords in a new trailer, but thanks to a recent Capcom TV event that aired on the CapcomChannel YouTube account, we can watch roughly ten minutes of straight gameplay footage.

Take a look at Onimusha: Warlords.

It’s all in Japanese, but just by watching you can tell that the live gameplay is using the new control scheme, as opposed to the original Onimusha: Warlords “tank” controls. Just from some early fiddling, you can see Samanosuke running around in a circle, which ends up being quite useful for positioning later on in the video.

Despite the new controls, it’s important to note that when using the lock-on mechanic, Onimusha: Warlords seems to behave exactly as it did in the original, with Samanosuke able to perform quick dashes in four directions, allowing him to make quick moves while still positioning for strikes.

Otherwise, with the exception of the new HD resolution, anyone familiar with the original Onimusha: Warlords should feel right at home here. We can see the demonstrator using (mostly trying to use) counters, even nailing one on a particularly troublesome enemy in order to effectively bypass fighting it. The demo ends with a clutch victory against an early boss, so new players can see what to expect there as well.

Onimusha: Warlords will release on January 15, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, and the PC.
