PS5 10 Million Sales

Report: Best Buy Will Sell PS5 and Xbox Series X in Stores This Week for the First Time in 2021

Folks over at TechRadar claim to have seen evidence that Best Buy is gearing up to sell PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles on Thursday, September 23rd, in its United States stores – a first in 2021.

It’s an unprecedented situation considering both consoles released nearly a year ago, but remain in shortage. Pandemic woes aside, scalpers have further created an artificial shortage by snapping up PS5s and Xbox Series Xs as soon as they become available, only to resell them at exorbitant prices – something neither the console manufacturers nor retailers have been able to address thus far.

According to TechRadar’s Matt Swider, who was sent inventory screens by his sources, “select” Best Buy stores will receive “just over 50 of PS5 Disc and Xbox Series X” consoles. The website claims that it’ll be able to confirm which stores are getting the inventory by Wednesday. It’s unclear if the “just over 50” number applies to both consoles, and if not, what the split is between both.

Nevertheless, this will be prospective buyers’ first opportunity to beat bots, but do note that nothing stops scalpers from lining up outside stores – something we’ve seen before for RTX GPUs in New York. According to TechRadar, lines stretched around several blocks, with hundreds of people trying to get their hands on the GPUs, resulting in a lot of pushing, shouting, and fighting.

We’ll update our readers when we have more information about Best Buy’s plans. With the holiday season fast approaching, you’ll definitely want to keep your eye out because you might not have a chance again.
