Is Fuse IP Being Revived by Insomniac Games?

An alleged copyright application filed by Insomniac Games has given birth to speculations that Fuse game is set for some kind of a return. For the uninitiated, Fuse is a four-player cooperative third-person shooter developed by Insomniac and published by Electronic Arts for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It released in May 2013 to mediocre reviews. EA considered the game a commercial flop.

The likelihood of a new Fuse game

First things first, we are unable to verify the copyright application in question, a mere screenshot of which was published on Reddit. According to the poster, the application – found on the U.S. copyrights record website – is now hidden. Indeed upon searching the database, we didn’t find any entry dated October 2022, which is the date mentioned on the screenshot. Considering how easy it is to create mock images, the screenshot could very well be fake.

Even if the copyright application is genuine, it doesn’t mean much. As previously mentioned, Fuse was a critical and commercial flop. Besides, Insomniac already has its hands full and there are are better IPs in the studio’s vault (see: Resistance). At present, it seems highly unlikely that we’ll see a Fuse sequel but weirder things have happened so never say never.
