PS5 System Update (March 29, 2023) Available Now

Sony Interactive Entertainment rolled out PS5 system update 23.01-07.01.01 nice and early this morning, and we’ve actually got patch notes this time! The update seeks to resolve a minor issue with update version 23.01-07.00.00, which introduced Discord.

The update, which weighs 834 MB, fixes the following:

  • An issue in Game Library where content was displayed incorrectly under certain conditions was resolved.

Sony didn’t say what exactly the condition was. We haven’t encountered the issue ourselves or seen any chatter about it but we’ll make sure to update the article when we find out more.

Sony previously rolled out a similar update to fix an issue with Discord voice chat disconnecting. Discord was introduced as part of a major update that came with a lengthy list of welcome features, including one that actually makes playing games easier by allowing users to ditch discs for games that they own digital versions for, allowing them to part with the physical copy.

Another welcome change was wireless updates for DualSense, DualSense Edge, and PSVR 2 Sense controllers. In case you missed it, you no longer need to plug in your cable to update your controllers.
