Mortal Kombat Joins the Blu-Ray Clan and Includes a Surprise

February 8, 2011 Written by Jonathan Leack

Mortal Kombat has remained one of our most anticipated releases since E3 last year, and rightfully so. It will mark the first time in over a decade that the series has played on a classic 2D plane, similar to Street Fighter IV‘s successful return to the seemingly ancient arcade days. If you’re as much in the mood for some ferocious MK action as we are, then feel free to throw two newly-announced Blu-ray movies into your pre-order cart.

Two big announcements: first of all, both the original Mortal Kombat film and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation are coming to Blu-ray. Also, the purchase of either movie will include a code that allows you to download an exclusive alternate costume for Jade in the forthcoming Mortal Kombat title.

Remarkably, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation will be releasing on April 19th, the same date as the PlayStation 3 game. Remember to pre-order your copy of Mortal Kombat on Amazon so you can also receive an additional costume and fatality for Reptile, the reptilian combatant with acid for blood.
