Criterion Not Abandoning Burnout Franchise

Criterion hasn’t worked on a fully-fledged Burnout title since 2008’s fantastic Burnout Paradise. Since then, the UK-based studio has partnered with Electronic Arts to develop Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and the more recent Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The studio, however, has assured Burnout fans that the franchise will still be continued.

Speaking to OPM during E3, Criterion’s Matt Webster stressed that even though the Burnout series has been noticeably absent from the market, the company won’t abandon the iconic franchise:

Burnout’s certainly not going away, no.

For those who can’t wait for more Burnout, Criterion recently said that Need for Speed: Most Wanted‘s return will feature the best “sh*t” of both Burnout Paradise, as well as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is currently scheduled for a release on October 30th in North America and November 2nd throughout Europe.
