Call of Duty Website Says Modern Warfare Remastered Requires Infinite Warfare Disc (Update)

Update:

Activision responded to our query by redirecting us back to the FAQ page. In other words, we can confirm that you need to have the Infinite Warfare disc in your console to play Modern Warfare Remastered.

Original story:

Ever since the announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, there’s been some confusion over how players will access the digital title. Quite a few people planned to purchase Infinite Warfare for the game, only to sell it on later. More recently, reports suggested that Modern Warfare Remastered might be a separate purchase at some point, which Activision was quick to deny.

If new wording on Call of Duty‘s website is anything to go by, players will actually need to have the Infinite Warfare disc inserted into their console of choice to be able to play Modern Warfare Remastered. Here’s what it states:

Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered).

As CharlieIntel points out, this is the first time we’ve heard of this. Many believe that Activision might have done this to discourage people from buying the disc just to download Modern Warfare Remastered before selling it on.

Regardless, we’re not quite sure how this is going to work and if the disc will need to be inserted each time we want to play Modern Warfare Remastered. We’ve reached out to Activision for a comment and will update our readers when we have more information.
