Capcom Reveals First Details of Mega Man and Monster Hunter Movies

In a series of press releases, Capcom announced that work has officially commenced on its Monster Hunter movie and live-action Mega Man movie projects.

Tentatively titled Monster Hunter, the movie is being produced by Paul W.S. Anderson and Jeremy Bolt from Impact Pictures, and by Robert Kulzer and Martin Moszkowicz from Constantin Film. Principal photography will start this month in South Africa and Namibia.

A brief description is as follows:

The film tells the story of two heroes who come from different worlds to defeat a shared danger, the powerful, deadly and magnificent monsters that inhabit the land. Along the way viewers will make new discoveries and encounter familiar faces and beloved characters from the games like the Admiral.

The Mega Man live-action movie (also tentatively titled Mega Man), is being written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. Although Capcom didn’t provide a description, the company said in a statement that it aims to attract a diverse audience including not only fans of the series but also action movie aficionados.

According to the publisher, Mega Man movie “maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.”

Release windows have yet to be announced.
