New Assassin’s Creed Origins Report Surfaces, Claims It Features Open World and Two Protagonists

Yesterday, we shared a report that appeared on Reddit over the weekend, claiming that the Egypt-based Assassin’s Creed game (code named Empire) will release as Origins. We were also told that Ubisoft has placed an order for info materials pertaining to Origins as well as Far Cry 5. Now, another report has surfaced that purports to have more info about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game.

“Ubisoft sources” have told WWG on condition of anonymity that Origins will feature a “vast open world” set in ancient Egypt and will have two protagonists – a male and a female. The game is reportedly less linear than its predecessors with its story revolving around “the original assassin’s guild.”

The game’s character progression system is “less tied to the story,” says WWG. The site further writes:

A development source we spoke to compared it numerous times to Bethesda’s Skyrim. They say that impressions of the project internally are so far positive.

The game will apparently grant the player considerably more freedom, featuring a greater emphasis on exploration over previous entries in the series. One source tells us that this is the biggest Assassin’s Creed the company has ever created and is “huge” in scope. They say that it has been in development for “at least” several years now.

We also learn that Origins will allow players to go beyond Egypt and into other territories. Interestingly, one source told WWG about an internal video that they were shown as a teaser for the game and here’s how the site narrates its description:

It apparently began by showing scenes of Egypt, before transitioning between different periods and locations throughout history, including an Asian country, WW2 era France, and a modern day Abstergo Industries facility.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is expected to release in fall 2017. If the reports are anything to go by, it looks like Ubisoft might unveil the title a little before E3. While we can’t verify this claim yet, we expect the developer to bring something to the event, at the very least.

As for Far Cry 5, there haven’t been any concrete reports about the game yet but we did find an interesting video by YouTube user Silentc0re, who shares some info he gathered about the title. You can check it out below but take this one with a grain of salt.
