Sony has announced that the PlayStation Plus free games for October 2017 will include Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Amnesia: Collection, Monster Jam Battlegrounds, Hustle Kings and more. Unlike last month’s lists, the lists between North America and Europe are completely identical in October.
Here’s the games both leaving and entering the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection next week on October 3 in North America and Europe:
Leaving the Instant Game Collection
- Child of Light (PS4)
- inFamous Second Son (PS4)
- Hatoful Boyfriend (PS4, PS Vita)
- We Are Doomed (PS4, PS Vita)
- RIGS Mechanized Combat League (PSVR)
- Truck Racer (PS3)
- Handball 2016 (PS3)
Entering the Instant Game Collection in North America and Europe
- Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4)
- Amnesia: Collection (PS4)
- Monster Jam Battlegrounds (PS3)
- Hustle Kings (PS3)
- Hue (PS Vita & PS4)
- Sky Force Anniversary (PS Vita & PS4)
If you haven’t grabbed it yet, don’t forget that That’s You!, the first PlayLink Initiative title from Wish Studios and Sony, will remain in the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection until October 23. PlayStation VR launch title RIGS is also available for free, so you’ll want to redeem that even if you don’t have a virtual reality headset yet. After all, who knows what you might own in the future, and you’d rather be safe than sorry!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Platforms: PS4
Should You Play It?
Hell yes. Metal Gear Solid V was the best reviewed game of 2015, and is one of the PS4's best titles. Even if you're not a fan of stealth games, the action is so tight that you'll get invested in the gameplay. It's the pinnacle of stealth action.
-
Amnesia: Collection
Platforms: PS4
Should You Play It?
Amnesia: Collection features some of the best independent horror games created in the past decade. They're full of scares, so as long as you don't mind having some nightmares afterwards, you should give it a play.
-
Hustle Kings
Platforms: PS3
Should You Play It?
There are better versions of Hustle Kings on other platforms (like PS4), but this is still a solid billiards title. If you've got a hankering for it then go for it!
-
Monster Jam Battlegrounds
Platforms: PS3
Should You Play It?
This is easily the worst game on offer this month. If you really like monster trucks then maybe you'll have some fun, but otherwise it's not worth booting up the PlayStation 3 for.
-
Hue
Platforms: Vita, PS4
Should You Play It?
Absolutely. Hue is a delightful puzzle-platformer that plays with color (and is colorblind friendly). It's challenging, doesn't drag on for too long, and guarantees a good time.

Sky Force Anniversary
Platforms: Vita, PS4
Should You Play It?
Sure. While not the best shoot-em-up, Sky Force Anniversary is still a solid title. Since it's free, give it a try, and see if you get hooked.
