Sony Honda Putting PS5 Games in AFEELA Electric Cars, Taking on Tesla

Sony has made good on its promise to take on Tesla by announcing AFEELA, a new brand in collaboration with Honda that’ll feature PS5 games in cars. The electric vehicles, a prototype of which was shown off at CES 2023 last night, will be developed by Sony Honda Mobility Inc. and the joint venture has already struck a partnership with Epic Games.

During its CES presentation, Sony showed off a concept of the car, with Horizon Forbidden West running on screens inside. On AFEELA’s official website, the company said that Fortnite maker Epic Games has been tasked to “seamlessly integrate real and virtual worlds.”

“We aim to evolve mobility space into entertainment and emotional space, by seamlessly integrating real and virtual worlds, and exploring new entertainment possibilities through digital innovations such as the metaverse,” Sony Honda Mobility said.

AFEELA is equipped with 45 cameras and sensors both inside and outside the vehicle. It’ll feature system on chip from from Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Digital Chassis.

Sony Honda’s EVs will be up for pre-order in the U.S. in the first half of 2025, and will be delivered by Spring 2026. We can only imagine the price tag right now.
