Horizon Zero Dawn’s Day One Update Is 250MB, New Trailers Released

Clearing up some confusion that arose this week, Horizon Zero Dawn Game Director Mathijs de Jonge clarified that the 16GB file size some early players are seeing on the disc release isn’t a day one patch, but rather the install. “No that is an initial install so you can start the game sooner,” he explained.

Earlier today, Guerrilla Games confirmed that the day one update for Horizon Zero Dawn is around 250MB. “Patch notes will be shared as soon as the game has launched,” they added.

Titled Overwhelming Odds and Explore the Wilds, the two Horizon videos released today offer up some new gameplay footage, as well as a look at the world and machines:

Horizon Zero Dawn launches on February 28 in North America and March 1 in Europe, but if you pre-order through the PlayStation Store, it looks like you’ll be able to access it a few hours early (at least in the United States and Japan). “Early access yes, but can’t say how early, that fluctuates,” de Jonge said.

Asked about a Season Pass or DLC for Horizon, de Jonge replied, “Can only talk about this release.”
